The roots of Ethereum can be traced back to a team of four people at a Swiss company back in 2014. It was initially a crowd-funded project where people bought an Ethereum value token called and ether. They bought the ether using another type of digital currency called bitcoin.

The Characteristics of Ethereum

The validity of any cryptocurrency is provided by a blockchain. A blockchain is a list of records that is continuously growing. They are secured with cryptography and resistant to modification.

It is a little different from bitcoin in that Ethereum uses state transitions, and it does not rely on UTXOx (unspent transaction outputs.) To spend or receive Ether, you need a cryptocurrency wallet that will store your “keys.” An Ether account isn’t linked to a person but is instead linked to an address.
